Position Summary
Purpose Financial is looking for a Sr. Credit Risk Analyst to join our Credit Risk team to help support the risk management function of our consumer loan portfolio. This role is responsible for monitoring and developing strategies for managing risk, profitability, collections & fraud, and developing test/control strategies. This role works closely with the management team to perform analysis and help them make informed decisions about lending and managing the risks. Furthermore, this role requires someone who quickly adapts to change and is willing to complete all duties as assigned and requested.
Job Responsibility
- Monitor consumer loan portfolio and optimize profit-based risk management decisions at all stages of the customer credit life cycle, including (but not limited to) new customer acquisition, underwriting, conversion, collections, and retention.
- Independently design experiments to enable longer term optimization of decisions, line assignment, and offer terms across our menu of financial products and customer segments.
- Works with data providers to evaluate new data sources and “Ad-Hoc” analysis as assigned.
- Collaborate with Finance and Business Intelligence to identify the required data and develop key KPIs for monitoring portfolio performance. Implement and maintain a suite of dashboards to report said KPIs.
- Develop reporting and analysis used to monitor trends and manage recurring optimizations.

Education Required
Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Economics, Engineering, Mathematics, Statistics, or a related quantitative field. (Advanced Degree preferred).
Experience Required
2+ years of experience working in an analytical role in banking, finance, or retail.
Knowledge Required
Excellent written and verbal communications skills; adaptability and flexibility to changing environment; and comfortable working in a dynamic, high volume, fast-paced environment. Ability to understand and ensure compliance with policies, procedures, and laws governing our industry/business and products.
- Prior coursework in advanced mathematics, computer programming, economics, and operations research would be beneficial.
- Working knowledge of extracting data using SQL.
- Hand-on ability to analyze data using R, Python, or any other analytical tool.
- Exposure to reporting tools such as Tableau and PowerBI.
- Ability to combine data from multiple sources to analyze and interpret business performance.
- Excellent written and verbal communications skills are needed to communicate in person, by phone, and through email.
- Adaptability and flexibility to changing environment; and comfortable working in a dynamic, fast-paced environment. Ability to interact professionally and exhibit appropriate social skills. Ability to understand and ensure compliance with policies, procedures, and laws governing our industry/business and products. Ability to quickly learn all technology needed to perform the role.
