Position Summary

The Portfolio Accountant is a key contributor to the Portfolio & Risk Management team, responsible for accurate cash accounting, high‑quality reconciliations, and strong financial controls. This role requires technical precision, analytical problem‑solving, and a commitment to continuous improvement—especially through process automation and AI‑enabled tools.

Job Responsibility

Cash Accounting & Reconciliations

  • Monitor daily cash transactions, loan payments, loan balances, and loss reserves.
  • Perform reconciliations across bank accounts, payment processors, and internal ledgers.
  • Investigate variances, aged reconciling items, and cash differences.
  • Prepare journal entries and ensure timely, accurate posting of cash activity.
  • Track cash movements, bank fees, transfers, and settlement activity.
  • Maintain reconciliation schedules and support month‑end close

Data Integrity & Systems

  • Test and validate subledger data flows into SAP and Snowflake.
  • Collaborate with Technology and Accounting teams to strengthen data accuracy and process integrity.
  • Provide clear, well‑documented support for internal and external audits.

Process Improvement & Automation

  • Identify opportunities to enhance internal controls and reduce manual processes.
  • Use Teampurpose.io or Microsoft Copilot (with governance) to accelerate documentation, SQL queries, reconciliations, and audit responses.
  • Document improved workflows, including process maps and data lineage diagrams.
  • Participate in Finance/IT project testing to support data integrity and process transformation

Financial Communication

  • Translate complex financial data into clear, concise narratives for leadership.
  • Partner with Treasury, AP/AR, Controller, and Operations to resolve issues and align on process improvements.

Job Responsibilities Cont.

Education Required

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting, Finance, or related field preferred.

Experience Required

  • 3+ years of progressive accounting experience in cash accounting, bank reconciliations, or general ledger
  • Experience in high‑volume cash environments or financial services is a plus.
  • Strong understanding of GAAP and reconciliation best practices.
  • ERP: SAP or similar; FloQast for close management.
  • Excel: Power Pivot (DAX), dynamic arrays, XLOOKUP, INDEX‑MATCH, macros.
  • SQL: Intermediate Snowflake/MySQL for queries, joins, and data validation.
  • AI Literacy: Understanding of generative AI capabilities, limitations, governance, and responsible use.
  • Growth Mindset: Demonstrated willingness to learn and apply AI tools to improve productivity and automation.

Knowledge Required

Excellent written and verbal communications skills; adaptability and flexibility to changing environment; and comfortable working in a dynamic, high volume, fast-paced environment.  Ability to understand and ensure compliance with policies, procedures, and laws governing our industry/business and products.
